World of Cars: Noxcrew home guide

Throughout the landscape of World of Cars, hidden in plain sight or in secret corners, the Noxcrew team have set up residence in their dream homes or personalised flats and are living the motorised high-life!

Come with me on a star tour of the rich and the Noxcrew famous, show you where they’re hiding and give you the scoop on why their houses are so special to them!

Arsenic

On a lonely stretch of beach lies a huge hungry shark ready to eat anyone who comes near!! But don’t be alarmed, looks can be deceiving. This starving beast is actually a home! More specifically it’s the home of Arsenic_Shark; artist, creator of the Tiny Footprints texture pack and actual shark!

Maybe be a bit careful where your curiosity leads you around this bitey beast!

Avondale

On the peaceful Leitford coast stands the home of Noxcrew mechanic and redstone wizard Avondale. A familiar sight to those who have visited Noxcrew’s various survival servers, this simple home has gone through many iterations before becoming Avon’s go to abode.

“I originally built this house on my first ever survival server, which I ran with my brother. My friend and I created a new city on top of the largest mountain in a nice range of mountains, and I built a small square hut with rounded corners. I quickly ran out of room, and added another square behind it in the only land that was left. Eventually, I started watching tutorials on how to build to improve my skills, and I expanded the house again by adding another square onto the front, and connecting everything together. I added a second floor, and then improved the roof. Since that design became finalized, I've rebuilt this house on several Noxcrew Survival Servers.

This is the version from the Gameshow Survival Server Season 1, which I recorded a few Let's Play videos on. The landscaping around the house had to change slightly, which made me redesign the deck, and I had to change some blocks due to the texture pack we use, but the interior decor is the same. I had to remove essentially all of the role-playing chest components, but a lot of the contents in the house are left over from when I stopped playing on that server. The basement of this house on the survival server had a massive factory in it, with machines that automatically or semi-automatically farmed resources, and a gigantic sorting machine that shuttled everything to where it needed to go (you can see it in action in the YouTube series!). Unfortunately, bringing all of this machinery over into Bedrock would have caused huge performance issues in this area (much like it did on that server), so I decided to rip it out in favor of a normal, NOT laggy basement.”

CheesierPasta

Standing tall next to the flowing river, the noble castle of Thor is a solid yet playful structure, highlighting the contrasts not only in his personality, but in the Noxcrew style.

ChrisBambii

Nestled between the stretching skyscrapers of Sunstow City hides builder ChrisBambii’s loving tribute to the Pixar film, Up. Bright and colourful, even his quote discusses how to make this whimsical house fly.

_Crafty

Tucked away in a quiet Kaldburk street is the strong sturdy home of Noxcrew’s most secretive coder, _Crafty. The house reflects the man I suppose.

CrushedPixel

On the bridge stretching over the lazy river of Leitford town sits the red bricked home of CrushedPixel, Noxcrew laid back coder and technical wizard. Why not chill out with him for a while, sometimes it's nice to get away from the hard times and smile.

e_mouse

Tucked away in the forests of Leitford lies the cabin of e_mouse, Noxcrew’s go to landscape sculpturer and world editing expert. For wanting to live a quiet life, his house is remarkably close to a road. Just don’t touch anything, he’s very particular.

EpicLandlord

By the shore of Kaldburk’s frozen lake stands the abode of Epic_Landlord, Noxcrew’s musical maestro! Though its not always peace and quiet in the ice.

I thought it would be cool to put a recording studio in my basement, and it was. I’ve done my best to soundproof the studio to but with a racetrack nearby lots of noise bleeds in from time to time. To be honest, I don’t know why I moved here…”

Frankenstien

Carved into the cliff face beneath Leitford’s magnificent stone structure stands the imposing home of Frankenstien, one of Noxcrew’s reclusive builders. Venture into the dark to find him, if you dare. For who knows what lurks in the land without light….

GamerStu

Hidden away in the Leitford forest, a small house peeks out from the rocks. This beautiful blend of the natural and the modern is the home of redstoner GamerStu. He always wanted to live in a cave.

JakeL

Overlooking the beautiful El Oro mesa sits a small home dedicated to the simple things. This is the chilled out home of JakeL, Noxcrew’s resident builder and camper-van owner. I wonder where his van’s gotten to?

LaurenJuliet

On the seacoast of El Oro, next to the docks sits a small factory feeding the hungry felines of the world. This facility belongs to Noxcrew PR manager, and resident cat lady, LaurenJuliet!

Built by JakeL initially as part of the waterfront, It was offered to Lauren due to her well known love of cats, who immediately accepted. She added a few personal touches and voila! One cat friendly cat food factory fit for a queen!

Markus

On a lonely frozen stretch of land reaching out towards the sea on the Kaldburk coast, sits the solitary home of Markus, Noxcrew’s head builder.

Mewulf

On a mysterious Leitford clifftop overlooking the sea stands the stone statues of 3 mighty creatures, howling up at the sky. Beneath this impressive structure is the home of Mewulf, Noxcrew’s server manager and grumpy wolf boss, designed and built by Skyao.

Everyone knew MeWulf wasn't gonna build his house. It was a question of who was gonna do it. I knew it had to be me. Me and the wulf share a unique connection and understanding. His house embodies his connection to nature and drive towards solitude. You ever seen "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" ? That's MeWulf, that's his ginger hair.

I needed something that conveys this, a lone stony peak was the way to go.”

Miluteen

High up in Kaldburk’s snowy hills the serene Miluteen watches over the landscape, unperturbed by the hustle and bustle of the world, handing out sage advice to anyone who come around to say hi.

Noctis_Mori

On a rock in the middle of the sea stands Mori’s Hollow, the isolated home of Noctis_Mori, Noxcrew’s community and support manager. A lover of the dark and macabre, her crooked witch hut invokes her passion for abstract architecture and occultist designs.

I spent a lot of time during my theatre degree studying avant-garde architecture and organising stages for various immersive theatre pieces, so I’ve always loved messing around with angles and interactivity. Couple that with my love of the occult and making a witch hut seemed like a no-brainer. A place where I could play with lines and give the building itself a dark, foreboding character, yet still have a house people might actually want to live in.

I chose to put my hut out in the middle of the sea because 1. I love seeing strange things in strange places 2. my heart always feels at home when I’m by the ocean and 3. despite my outgoing personality, I’m actually quite an anxious person and I like to retreat into my own space from time to time. Having a spooky place away from other people, but with an easy way to reach everyone, suits me just right.

Despite its dark and moody exterior, my house is actually quite cozy and is dedicated to my three great passions: reading, cooking and music.

Noxite

In a hidden cave deep within the towering Leitford forest sits Noxcrew’s leader, Noxite, in a fitting tribute to maps long past.

Based on Noxcrew’s first ever Youtube video, Noxite’s cave replicates an area within our second project, Paladin’s Quest: Episode 2, which saw The Player take on the role of a young pig farmer who yearns for a life of adventurer as he’s shipwrecked on a mysterious and mystical island. The project was never fully complete (as were so many projects from our early years) but this small tribute stands as a testament to just how far we’ve come as creators and as a team.

Oli

On the El Oro coastline, where water meets desert, sits the rustic home of sound designer Oli, aka MrCompost, who traded out the swamp life for a more arid environment. At least he’ll be warm.

RubyJam

In her quaint and quiet home, Ruby sits and contemplates her existence and the nature of one’s art existing beyond its creator.

Its also an ode to her favourite colour: red!

Shronky

In the frozen winter lands of Kaldburk, a cosy haven rests on top of the frozen hillside. This snug log house belongs to Noxcrew writer Andrej, and is inspired by a stay on a ski trip to the Kopaonik mountain in Serbia.

Skyao

Hiding on a remote cliffside sits the tranquil abode of Noxcrew artist, Skyao who looked to the aesthetics of Studio Ghibli to create wonder in the ordinary

“I think everyone in the team has an appreciation for Ghibli. There's a sense of wonder and cartooniness in it that avoids being banal. I wanted to make a house that gave off that feel. Like I could imagine it on some verdant grass field in the background of Naussica. A chill place, relaxed, away from civilization, where you can just sorta zone out and paint. If you notice I do have a small setup with an easel overlooking the street!

SkyeScribbles

On the bend of a lonely road in the Kaldburk mountains is nestled the cosy home of artist SkyScribbles, where she sits and watches the cars pass as she serenely sips tea.

someguynamedTHX

High up in his luxury penthouse apartment, THX can marvel and the sights and sounds of the bustling city of Sunstow… If he wasn’t too scared to look out the window that is, heights are scary!

Upixel

Our lovely little marshmallow builder can be found hanging out in his sweet little diner in Leitford town, by the lazy oak tree.
