MCC: new game revealed!
Hi Noxcrew community
With MCC 5 only hours away, we’re finally announcing our brand new mini-game: Sands of Time!
For old school Noxcrew Gameshow fans, you’ll already be familiar with the old Sands of Time mini-game from the pilot season, where teams would enter a dungeon one at a time to gather the most diamonds and try not to get trapped inside. With this version, we’ve completely revamped the format, with a brand new style and some interesting new twists!
Designed to act very much like the old game, Sands of Time will see all 10 teams exploring their own dungeon at the same time trying to collect as many coins as possible then make it out alive. To keep things fair and interesting, each team will be running their own versions of the same dungeon, allowing the player to see how each team tackles the same obstacles differently (think of it like Build Mart, all have the same builds, all build them differently).
The dungeons are completely randomised using our new (and frankly insane) random dungeon generator that means not even the admins will know the layout of the dungeons until they’re created! Major props to Marius and Aeltumn, they’ve really outdone themselves this time, I can’t wait to see it in action.
Each dungeon will have the potential to house various different traps and challenges, from fighting arenas to riddle rooms. They’re also filled with useful items and coloured keys lying around that will open corresponding doors that will lead to even more treasure! To help navigate and communicate with their teammates, each member of the team has a unique marker they can use to pave the dungeon with, each with a different symbol unique to that player.
The time teams have in the dungeon is counted in sand, with a timer at the central hub filled with 2 minutes worth of sand. Each block represents 10 seconds in the dungeon with the blocks depleting as they explore. When this time runs out they get locked in the dungeon and cannot escape until every team completes the game. Teams can replenish this sand to keep the doors open and extend their time in the dungeon by collecting the blocks dotted around the dungeon.
If a player dies in the dungeon, they’ll drop any treasure and items they’ve collected and be entombed in the central hub, unable to escape. They can only be freed by another team member releasing them at the cost on one sand.
Once a member of the team leaves the dungeon, they bank whatever treasure they have collected at their team’s hub and can no longer return to the dungeon. For the players who want to play it safe (like cowards) the sphinx who overlooks the hub, will allow players to permanently secure coins without leaving, but in return for minimising the risk, it will deduct a 20% fee. This means leaving the dungeon entirely is always the most lucrative option…
We’re really excited to bring another Gameshow classic to the Minecraft Championship for you all to enjoy! I hope you, and the YouTubers, are as excited about it as we are!
Stay safe and I’ll see you all on Saturday for the show!
