Adventurer’s Dream: world guide
The world of Adventurer’s Dream is big. Really big.
In this world of fantasy and adventure, there are a plethora of places to explore, monsters to fight and treasure to find, with the ultimate goal of uncovering the lost statues hidden in ten temples across the world to power the portal and defeat the terrifying Nightmare Dragon!
But in a world this expansive, it can be easy to get distracted and lose your way. And going in half prepared is the best way to get yourself killed, leaving this world at the mercy of the dragon’s evil, forever!
Thankfully, our brave scouts have gone out into this wild world and brought back useful information about the temples, the lands that lie around them and the monsters that dwell inside that should help you on your quest. We’re counting on you to set the world free. Are you up to the task?
The Castle
At the heart of this fantasy world, nestled beside the great mountains, stands a proud and noble castle defended by valiant paladins. Within its walls, villagers live in safety and peace surrounded by their loyal yet flighty feline companions, trading with the farmers who work the land just beyond the city walls. These humble farmers raise crops to keep the kingdom fed as well as horses, destined to become noble steeds for the paladins or any other brave adventurer with a mind for glory!
To the north, the gentle river roars to life, flowing over the edge of the world becoming a mighty waterfall, the perfect launchpad for the city’s fleet of flying ships, some seeking exploration, others trading with the other kingdoms far beyond this realm.
But peace is a fragile thing and danger still lurks in this gentle haven. The mountains are home to ferocious bears, whose hunger can draw them closer and closer to the city walls, drawn by the promise of an easy meal, be it trash, cat or unsuspecting human. To the west, in the ruins of an unassuming cottage, goblins gather, plotting, planning. Waiting for their chance to strike.
Air Temple
A temple dedicated to the noble ram and ewe, no-one quite knows what caused the temple to crack and break apart as it did, nor what keeps it floating in space. Tales tell that once upon a time sheep floated in the sky around the island like living clouds. But the sheep dwell here no longer.
Drifting peacefully through the heavens, its treacherous paths prevents enemies from laying claim to it, however, it also makes it dangerous for adventurers to explore, with nothing between them and the endless sky but their wits and dexterity.
For those brave enough and skilled enough to traverse it, treasures await. Not only the sacred statue but gold, equipment and a bow powerful enough to knock any foe into the void below.
The Mines
Once a bustling hub of industry, fueling the kingdom’s need for iron and coal, has now been overrun by the foul goblin horde. Now home to goblin warriors, scouts and strange sappers who carry bombs upon their backs, the mines have fallen into disrepair, with cave-ins and wild vines blocking the paths deeper into the rocky depths.
But never fear, while the goblins are greedy, they aren’t all that bright. The explosives, once used by the miners to create new mineshafts, are still stored amongst the worn rock. With them, a brave adventurer could make their way to the centre of the mines and reclaim the statue and the lost dwarven sword hidden in the heart of the earth.
Temple of Heck
A rival kingdom spawned from the darkest level of Heck, this temple is a powerful corrupting influence on the land, spreading its evil out to infect the once peaceful regions, twisting them into dark versions of their former selves.
Pillagers. Vindicators. Ravagers. Goblins. There’s no end to the evil that lurks within its terrible walls. Not even the treasure within is safe. In a heartbeat what looks like a normal chest could turn out to be a vicious mimic, ready to devour the foolish and the greedy alike. Don’t think that the skies are safe either. Using their foul machinations, the pillagers have created airships, capable of blasting even the most armoured adventurer out of the sky!
However, if you’re brave or foolish enough to brave the moat of fire, the winding corridors and army of horrors, you’ll be richly rewarded with a sword as sharp as the frozen wind and the statue the foul fiends have been hiding.
Volcano Temple
Infected by the darkness of the Temple of Heck, this once quiet volcano erupted into molten fury. Blowing its top, spreading searing lava and rock across the surrounding lands, its wrath turned the surrounding forest into a burnt wasteland, full of petrified trees and scorched earth
But the fire’s not the only danger in the volcano’s blazing heart. Shaken awake by the fearsome explosion, ember wraiths now call the temple home, protecting the treasure within and incinerating any foolish enough to try and reclaim its ancient statue, or the powerful bow of fire that stands beside it.
Hidden Garden Temple
Just beyond the volcano’s wraith sits an ancient desert, stretching out into the horizon, hiding the mysteries of the past beneath the shifting sands.
Past an ancient monument, reaching up to heavens from the grasping dirt stands two locked pyramids that none may enter. However, as every tomb raider knows, there’s always a side entrance, and buried in the sand, a little away from the sealed entrance is your ticket inside. However, getting in and claiming the sacred statue is the easy part, Getting out? That a whole different ball game.
With ravenous scarabs, perilous pitfalls and ancient puzzles lurking behind every corner beware that this ancient burial ground doesn’t become your own tomb… At least there’s a nice garden to relax in.
Fairy Forest
The people of the Kingdom were always on good terms with the carefree fey-folk of the Fairy Forest, trading with the people of the mushroom village, trading grain and iron for rams and the beautiful and rare unicorns that dwelled in the verdant shade. Together they shared the peace and prosperity of the land.
That all changed when the Nightmare Dragon returned.
The forest became wild and dangerous. The boar became vicious, attack on sight, the friendly foxes became sly and mischievous and large, twisted spiders took root in the growing shadows. There are even talk of hungry owlbears stalking the land, ravaging any and all unsuspecting travellers. It was no longer safe to travel the realm and the villagers of the forest were lost, abandoned to the growing darkness. Who knows if they survived?
The Cemetery Temple
Hidden in the dark corners of the fairy forest sits what once was the cemetery of the Castle, a place to entomb their honoured dead and house the treasure these heroes had died to reclaim, one of the 10 lost statues, brought home from the wretched fiends of Heck.
But when the trees grew wild, the cemetery was abandoned, it’s occupants left behind, to be forgotten by the slow march of time.
Overrun by nature and goblin alike, to recover the statue and the sword of the fallen, you must reclaim this sacred space, unlock its mysteries and cleanse it of the darkness that now dwells within.
The Fairy Cave
The beating heart of the Fairy Forest, this is where the fairies are born and live most of their days, playing amongst the cool water and bright, glittering crystals.
But evil has infected even this place of peace. Goblins have invaded the caves, trapping the fairies underground, depriving the realm of their light, enticed by the riches concealed within the caves.
Free the central crystal of the scourge and be rewarded with the statue the fairies swore to protect and their blessings, to help defend you against the further evils now threatening this land.
Witches Hut
Those who grew up reading fairytale well know the stories of witches dwelling in the woods, ready to snatch away any foolish child tempted by her house of gingerbread and candy. Adventurers may even scoff at the idea of being fooled by such a trick. They are no mere child, they are adventurers! No witch can withstand the might of their strength and courage!
Such foolish thinking can easily lead to death.
Beneath the gingerbread house by a dark and glassy lake in the Fairy Forest, the witch’s dark brew has created a nightmare realm, containing one of the 10 lost statues, and 4 dastardly traps!
First adventurers must jump through the dark fire that fuels the witch’s cauldron, then traverse a maze drenched in darkness and full of misdirection. 3rd, they must find the right path through descending levels of nauseating light, where one wrong door can send you right back to the top again. Finally, in the witch’s cruellest trick, the room is turned upside down! Up is down, down is up and one wrong move could cause you to float, gently, horrifyingly into the lava on the ceiling above.
Traverse these terrible traps and be rewarded with the statue and a bow that will never run out of arrows
Frozen Village
Over the towering western mountains, in the frozen wastes stand a village erected in the shadow of the long-dead dwarves, whose stories are lost to time.
Sheltered by high walls and the dwarves’ golden hall, the village sits below the mighty dwarven forges, their furnaces still burning, its glow warming the frigid winter nights. To survive, the villagers build mighty sky-ships and hunt the majestic sky whales, whose meat and blubber is well needed to protect against the cold.
It’s a hard, solitary life, made harder by packs of vicious wolves that roam the frozen wastes and bands of roving pillagers and hollow buglin, greedily claiming what does not belong to them, using force if necessary. While rest is possible here, it can come at a high price.
Ice Palace
South of the frozen village lies a maze of ice and snow. Haunted by wolves, goblins and the wretched Ice Wraiths, it is a dangerous place, where few dare to enter and from which even fewer return. For at its heart sits a palace, once resplendent in the frozen sun, now tainted by a dark and terrible blight that infects all who walk its halls.
Born of the ominous wither rose the palace is now home to a sickness that has tainted the goblins and spiders who dwell within, their very touch spreading the dark infection onto any who dare get too close.
Survive this icy palace of death and be rewarded with protection against all enemies, and another of the lost statues.
Dragon’s Lair
A place to be avoided, even before the Nightmare Dragon’s return, this place once housed the great beast, surrounded by gold and treasures. When the beast disappeared, the people of the kingdom banded together and sealed the lair, hoping they could seal away the past forever and start a new age of peace. They tasked the kingdom’s greatest wizards with guarding the entrance to the lair, to ensure none may disturb the peace. They even teleported their great tower to the land before the great maw, chaining it in place that it might never be dragged away from its duty. But to no avail.
The beast has returned, the wizard tower overcome with goblin and mysterious conjurations, the byproduct of some great and terrible spell. In its wake comes new dragons, hatchlings, destined to follow in the beast giant footsteps. They may be cute and harmless now, but one day they’ll raze cities to the ground! Especially with the goblins there to raise them towards that dark purpose.
There can be no delay. Gather the statue and the ancient dragon-slaying sword sealed within the now broken tomb and face this nightmare once and for all.
Nightmare Dragon’s horde
In a mountainous basin, filled with treasures beyond measure lies the new home of the Nightmare Dragon, the source of all evil in this realm.
Powered by greed and the dark crystals atop the piercing spires, it’s up to you to slay the great beast and restore peace to all the citizens of the realm.
Creatures of myth
There are tales of other creatures, some dangerous, some docile, living the realms far beyond our own, ruled by creators and survivors and others with the strength to reshape the world to their choosing.
Our scouts scoured the land, looking for these creatures, but could only find stories, whispers of their beauty and power.
We hope, one day, they will reach our shores, that we too may witness them in the flesh.
