NZC: experimenting with the format

Hi Noxcrew community!

I hope you enjoyed your time off! Always nice to have a few days to yourself, even in a time of always having days to yourself.

We here at Noxcrew certainly had a lovely time and repaid our little break by releasing Mega Moustache Tales aka Millionaire Mansions 2!

Our second map in as many months (don’t get used to it) Millionaire Mansions 2 was a lovely project to watch grow, from a tiny island to a world teeming with some of the most impressive animations I’ve personally seen in Minecraft! No word of a lie, I lost my mind at the fish tank when I first saw it, so major props to the Art team! The response to it has been incredible so thank you all for your support. We love making stuff like this and love that you guys are enjoying it too!

With one map out into the world, we’re working hard on keeping our streak up and getting another one out there for you all to enjoy! A brand new round of testing on Codename: Cow has meant that it’s been a busy week for Avondale and the mechanics as they fix all the issues we’ve been picking up (nothing gamebreaking mind, just little quality of life things) and tweaking timings on quests to make sure everything runs nicely. Touch wood, in a few days all these little hiccups will be sorted and we can move one to our next bunch of projects!

Speaking of, Nice Zoomy Cats is still in it’s experimental phase as we focus on finishing Codename: Cow, just having fun with the project and seeing where certain lines of thought can take us before locking them down. There’s been a lot of interesting outcomes including some fabulous mob textures and animations from Skyao and RubyJam. (which I can’t share in case they become spoilers) The level designers have also started work on what they hope will become the world, colour blocking quite a large area to get a feel for the atmosphere and layout of the world. It’s always fun when we have a slightly more relaxed start to a project, really gives us time to get to know what it's all about and all this experimentation will put us in good stead for when we kick this thing into high gear!

Next up, we’ve got a new addition to the Noxcrew family! Please welcome Aeltumn (Daniël) to the team! A long time member of the Noxcrew community, who's helped us before with coding for things like the modded survival server and the current ambassador server, Aeltumn will be joining us as a developer, working alongside Marius in creating exciting new games and surprises in MCC. Welcome to the team Aeltumn!

Finally the final run of tests is underway ready for the Easter edition of MCC this Saturday! (18th April) We had a bit of a change up in how we’re choosing our testers because there’s just so many of them all hungry to play! It’s kinda terrifying how passionate those guys are. Just pushes us to make things even better and worthy of their passion! There have been a lot of changes behind the scenes and as such, Wednesday's test highlighted a few bugs that have popped up as a result. We’re working on them as we speak so hopefully everything’s fixed up and ready for tonight’s test ahead of the big day! I hope you’ll all join us at 8pm over on the Noxcrew Twitch channel for the Noxcrew Admin stream or on your favourite competitors stream for what’s gearing up to be another exciting night of MCC action! (I honestly have no idea who’s going to win this time

And that’s your lot!

Keep safe and I’ll speak to you all next week!
