How to join a Minecraft server - Bedrock Edition

Joining a multiplayer server on Minecraft Bedrock is easy, provided that you have access to the internet! There are two types of servers that you can access via Bedrock: Minecraft official partner servers, and independent servers that are hosted by other players or companies that are not affiliated with Microsoft.

How to join an official Minecraft server

1. Select the Server tab

On the Minecraft main menu click the play button then select the server tab. This will bring a list of the currently available Minecraft partner servers for you to play on.

2. Choose your server

Choose one of the featured servers to play and double click on it. You will instantly connect and download any required resource packs, ready to play!

How to join an independent server

1. Find the server IP

Find the IP address of the server you wish to join. This will be given to you by the host of the server, or, if using a pre-hosted server, the IP address can be found online on server list websites.

2. Select the Server tab

On the Minecraft main menu click the play button then select the server tab. Click on the Add Server above the list of official servers.

3. Enter the server details

Enter the name of the server you’re going to join, along with the IP address and port (the last 5 numbers of the IP address).

Then press Play to join the server, or Save to save it for later.

You’re done!

You can now play on your selected Bedrock server.

Note for parents: Be aware that independent servers are not regulated by Minecraft and may contain content that is unsuitable for younger players.
