Making names and playing games

Hello Noxcrew community!

Our luck seems to be turning after the disruption and delays of last week and I have a lot of interesting things to tell you about!

First off, if you’ll allow us to brag for just a minute, at the time of writing, City Living is the top trending map on the Marketplace right now! It’s an amazing accomplishment and one that wouldn’t have happened without all of your support.

You guys are the ones who push us to keep creating maps that are interesting, exciting and most of all fun, for us to make and, seemingly, for you to play so thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

After this wonderful news, let’s move on to ‘InterestinglyFreakyWomen’ where the boys have run their final entities check to ensure that every new NPC and object is scaled correctly and looks exactly how we want them to. It’s also a great opportunity to check their movement cycles and attack animations to make sure that nothing has broken or gone off the rails. We’ve also started playthroughs to make sure the map as a whole is paced correctly and been squirrelling away some lovely little secrets around the place for you guys to find when it reaches you!

Another map inching towards completion is DVD! We’re down to the nitty gritty parts now, finishing animations and developing art assets which has been keeping Skyao, Skye and Arsenic exceptionally busy. We’ve also started to test some of the absolutely incredible particle effects developed by Marius and Stu in the world. One last push and this baby’s ready to go!

Next up, the team have been approaching our brand new project in a very different way than we usually do. Rather than creating games, we’ve been playing them! (shocking behaviour for a group of gamers :P) Less you think we’re slacking off, the 4 hour gaming session was a part of some very serious research for ‘Codename: Cow’ our latest venture spearheaded by Avondale, framed as a explorative adventure map.

After this unorthodox research session we did hold our first project meeting, where we planned it all out and prepared to start building a world that is set to be the biggest map, size wise, we have ever attempted (and this is supposed to be a relaxed project compared to our recent maps!) More information on Codename:Cow as I get it :)

Last but not least, we have a surprise addition that was even a surprise to us! Unbeknown to everyone, Skyao, as well as creating art for all of our current projects, began and nearly completed a whole new skin pack before any of us even realised! Isn’t she amazing?! We’ve finally caught up with her and have given her a few notes, so hopefully we’ll have it out to you guys as quickly as she created it! (We even have a deal that if it clears Microsoft without issue she’ll get a prize!)

And that’s your lot! We’ve exploded out of our thankfully short period of bad luck and projects behaving badly, and we don’t have any plans of being slowed down again, not when there’s so much fun to be had!

See you next week!
