Twitch Rivals: MC Championship (MCC) Live

Over the past few years, Noxcrew worked with Twitch Rivals on a series of live and in-person MC Championship (MCC) events at TwitchCon!

Twitch Rivals is a series of esports events held both online and at TwitchCon. Noxcrew was involved in TwitchCon 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026, held across North America and Europe.

MCC, run and managed by Noxcrew, has been running since 2019 and has hosted over 60 online events. Each event hosts 40 content creators who battle it out across a series of mini-games to test core Minecraft skills.

For each TwitchCon, Noxcrew aims to create an extra special event!

During the 2025 San Diego event, Noxcrew partnered with Mojang to bring their recent update to life. The "Copper Age" game drop was released on September 30 2025, and on October 19th, the MC Championship hosted “The Copper Crown” on stage. This meant working in parallel with various external teams to weave the update into the event in a meaningful way, as well as creating an entertaining experience for the audience.

To create seamless integrations with the narrative and creative direction of the event, the team carefully adapts, ensuring the experience translates into the live show environment. For example, the team has to consider:

  • Format adaptation: To accommodate the event within the allotted time frame, Noxcrew adapts the event format, allowing for advert breaks, audience giveaways, explainers from the commentators, etc.

  • Security measures: For those competing, there is the risk of their being unable to gain access to their accounts. Forgotten passwords and security keys can be easily reset when travelling. So we map Minecraft accounts to imposter accounts, reducing that risk.

  • API integration: We implement API interfacing to feed information to Twitch, enabling the display of on-screen graphics and a chat activity tracker.

  • Branding and Identity: Each MCC event has its own identity, so any merch giveaways or promotions must have their own branding and assets to be used in the lead-up to the event, as well as on-screen graphics.

  • Creating a visual story: We also produce in-house explanation videos to be played on screen during the event, allowing both new and returning viewers to understand what to expect. For events where we have more specific integrations, for example, if any gameplay mechanics have been altered to fit the creative direction and narrative, this is clearly explained.

These in-person MC Championship events create an electric experience both in the room and online, with hundreds of thousands of people tuning in online and people attending TwitchCon with this special event in mind. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of bringing MC Championship to TwitchCon!
