BTS: The First-Ever K-Pop Concert in Minecraft
In an exciting partnership, Noxcrew joined forces with the global phenomenon BTS to create the first-ever K-Pop concert within the Minecraft universe.
Noxcrew was approached by YouTube, to bring together a BTS performance in Minecraft to close out YouTube’s ESCAPE2021—a global, interactive livestream that challenged people to play their way through 2021 trends.
Recognizing the significance of online platforms and the role they play in bringing people together, especially post-pandemic, Noxcrew collaborated with YouTube to ensure seamless streaming and engagement for the global audience.
There was an incredible live reception, and the BTS segment has since amassed 5.1M views and counting on their YouTube channel!

Noxcrew had to work through technical adaptations to make this a reality, including developing custom software that translated recorded movements into code. This solution allowed for efficient recording of concert footage and imposing pre-recorded content in, mitigating potential performance issues associated with the platform's limitations in handling large crowds.
Noxcrew built tooling to allow for full world animation within the game which could be fast-forwarded, paused, rewound, and even skip chapters. To allow for the precise editing, there were elements that had to be replayed multiple times and this tooling allowed Noxcrew to do this. One of the benefits of building in Minecraft is that multiple users can login and view it at the same time, so the team would often join collaboratively to the environment and edit it live.
