Web Developer
Part-Time (~40-80 hours per month) | Remote | £16-£21/hr depending on experience
Noxcrew is an independent Minecraft-based game design studio making content for the Minecraft Marketplace, running a Live-Ops Multiplayer Experience, and a monthly streamed competitive event for popular content creators. Noxcrew are passionate about the Minecraft community, the game itself, video games in general, and game design.
We’re looking for a part-time Full-Stack Web Developer to join the Noxcrew team. You’ll work on web projects across both MC Championship and MCC Island.
Responsibilities:
Maintain TypeScript-based web services
Operate live-ops products, like MCC Live
Collaborate with Design, Marketing, DevOps, and QA departments on the development, deployment, and testing of new projects and features
Independently make decisions on the technology stack of Noxcrew web projects. This includes:
Front-End: NextJS, SCSS
Back-End: NestJS
Cloud: Google Cloud
The technology involved in this role is highly diverse, and you’ll be constantly learning new things. We don’t expect all points below to be covered by a single applicant; a grasp of key Web Dev concepts and a willingness to research and learn unfamiliar tech will get you a long way!
Experience/Skills:
Understanding of a React-based framework, ideally NextJS, using TypeScript
Ability to transform designs into maintainable front-end implementations using SCSS (or similar CSS abstractions)
Experience using NodeJS on the server, ideally with cloud providers and high loads in mind
Specific experience with TypeScript-based back-end frameworks like NestJS is a plus
Full understanding of standard development tools like Git, Yarn (or NPM), and Linux
Desireable:
Experience with the following cloud products (or equivalents):
Cloud Firestore
Cloud Run Functions
Cloud Storage
Cloudflare
Vercel
Experience using one or more Headless Content Management Systems (CMS) like Strapi
Experience in maintaining PHP 8+ systems like XenForo 2+
Experience with either Java or preferably Kotlin
Contributed to interesting open-source projects and previous professional experience in the gaming industry
Understands relevant build tools for large web projects like Turborepo and Webpack
General understanding of DevOps technologies like GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes
An understanding of Minecraft and the MCC ecosystem
